Commercial Revenue Accountant

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with Client Business Directors, the Goodstuff Commercial Revenue Accountant will be responsible for all revenue and KPI reporting, forecasting and analysis to support both internal key business decisions and Group requirements.
The Commercial Revenue Accountant should have good attention to detail and be a critical thinker, always looking for opportunities to improve processes and add value to the rest of the business. They should also have a strong working knowledge of revenue recognition and is able to adapt their knowledge to different revenue recognition rules.
Reporting to the Financial Controller.
Responsibilities include:- Monthly reporting and detailed variance analysis for all aspects of Billings & Income including:
- Client income via media planning and buying activities (including performance related fees)
- Media income and other media owner deals
- Social strategy and production income
- Other products and services
- Ensuring that revenue is recognised in accordance with agreed Group policies and all judgements around revenue recognition are fully documented
- Ensuring all revenue related balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled at month end
- Monthly review of prepaid jobs to identify any potential unrecognised fee income
- Monthly review, tracking, update and analysis of all aspects of Billings & Income rolling forecasts
- Business partnering with the Client teams to provide support and guidance on accurate and timely Billings & Income forecasts.
- Monthly reporting and analysis of Client Spends for Investment Team
- Maintaining Billings & Income High-Level Client Summary
- Completing Group reporting packs from a revenue perspective including P&L and Balance Sheet variance analysis, Client Revenue Database, Revenue Pipeline and Client Relationship Status.
- Tracking, managing and reporting on media owner arrangements from both a media owner and client perspective, including the timely invoicing of any arrangements. This will require the role to work closely with the Chief Investment Officer
- Managing referral fees in line with partner agency agreements
- Tracking performance related fees and ensuring Client teams agree and bill these on a timely basis
- Maintaining Forecast Tool including user access, adding new clients and updating commission rates in line with contractual terms
- Updating Net New Business tracker on a monthly basis
- Maintaining client profitability/utilisation tool and updating on a monthly basis
- Supporting Client teams with ad hoc client profitability and time/cost analysis
- Supporting CFO with the drafting of basic SOW’s including building out costings using costing templates
- Supporting internal and external stakeholders through providing ad hoc Billings & Income and Client analysis including accreditation and industry submissions
- Supporting CFO and Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and analysis
- Supporting Business Operations Manager with ad hoc billings requests, including barter credit billings on behalf of clients and yearly client reconciliations, and posting associated journals
- Providing revenue related supporting documentation and statutory disclosures for local and Group audits and responding to related queries
- Supporting internal audit/SOX compliance as it pertains to revenue
- Quarterly reforecasting of Billings & Income with associated internal and Group reporting packs
- Leading yearly Billings and Income budget with associated internal and Group reporting packs
The requirements
- Lives the Goodstuff Values (see below) in their day to day life
- ACCA/CIMA part-qualified with at least 2 years industry experience in a similar role
- Experience working in a media (ideal) or marketing services environment
- Organised and able to manage multiple workstreams whilst anticipating impacts of workload to team deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Previous exposure to drafting of client contracts and SOW (nice to have)
- Proactive and demonstrates initiative – always looking at ways to do things better
- Meticulous analytical and problem-solving skills - ability to think around problems and get to inventive solutions, as well as make informed judgments where necessary
- Confident communicator and ability to build relationships at all levels
- Self motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects
- IT literate (advanced Excel, proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Powerpoint)
- Experience with Media Ocean/Maconomy a plus
