The Head of Social is responsible for providing creative and strategic leadership within Made By Goodstuff, the social and content arm of Goodstuff. They should play a leading role in motivating and mentoring members of the Made By team to get to creative, strategically robust social-first solutions that delight our clients. As well as having a deep understanding of social, the Head of Social should be a creative leader with a strong desire to deliver award-worthy work and able to work collaboratively across the business towards shared agency outcomes. To provide strategic and creative counsel within the team and ultimately play a pivotal role in growing Made By and taking it to the next level.
Reporting to the Managing Director of Made by Goodstuff.
Responsibilities include:Leadership:
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with Goodstuffers, both within the direct team and across the wider business
- Build productive relationships with external partners inc. suppliers & partner agencies
- Inspire, motivate and mentor members of Made By to get to inventive social solutions on client briefs
- Positively and proactively support on new business and pitch opportunities (across both Goodstuff & Made By direct)
- Responsible for the line management, development and overall quality and delivery of work by the Content Creative
- Conduct effective appraisals, 1:1s and team gatherings
- Skilfully manage up to MD of Made By, seeking support and advice
Clients:
- Nurture and impact influential senior client relationships through effective communication and by taking the time to understand their working styles
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of our clients’ business and brand
- Direct effective client meetings, setting the agenda, tone and desired outcome
- Utilise data from internal and client surveys to strengthen client relationships and inform healthy challenge to get to the best outcome for our clients
- Proactively reach out to clients with new or interesting information and ideas
Culture:
- Lead from the front, role modelling Goodstuff values and contributing to our culture
- Play a leading role in cultivating a collaborative, insightful and creative culture within the Made By team
- Champion a feedback culture within the team by creating opportunities for two-way feedback
- Seek inventive solutions to problems with a focus on doing the right thing (asking for support if needed)
- Develop proactive ideas and initiatives for clients and the agency
- Deliver against a defined &Some for career development and wider agency support
Commercial:
- Identify opportunities to deliver incremental and profitable growth for Made By Goodstuff
- Contribute to accurate scoping and costing of social projects
- Accountable for frictionless financial process with accurate and timely billings and expenses
- Ensure accurate and consistent weekly completion of timesheets for themselves and for their team
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to work effectively and efficiently across multiple projects
The requirements
- Previous experience working in a senior, strategic social role within an agency environment
- Strategic smarts; able to distil complex challenges into an easily understood, actionable social/content strategy
- Creativity and a passion for social-first ideas; able to work with Made By Team to translate strategy into award-worthy, social-first ideas and campaigns
- Detailed understanding of production process
- Ability to be comfortable and convincing in both client and wider agency meetings
- Able to build a compelling narrative to sell in thinking and ideas
- Ability to inspire, motivate and mentor members of Made By
- Exceptional leadership skills and ability to flex style to get the best out of team
- An influential presenter who develops impactful presentations through simple and creative storytelling
- A creative thinker with a passion for cracking client problems within the social and content space
- Collaborative and naturally entrepreneurial, with a positive approach and ability to galvanise others
- Able to build effective relationships (both internal and client), and positively influence others
- Personable, passionate, and professional – create a consistently positive personal impact
- Able to manage multiple projects, in a deadline-driven environment
- Commercially astute
- Is a clear and concise communicator who listens well
